Since becoming pregnant, I have found that I am constantly wondering whether or not my actions are safe for my unborn child. Often I find myself running to the computer to look up whether a product I'm using or an activity I'm doing is safe for my baby. I'll never forget the time that I read in one of my pregnancy guides not to use facial products with salicylic acid. That name sure did ring a bell so, I ran into the bathroom to check my facial cleanser and it was actually called, "Salicylic Cleanser". Unfortunately, I didn't read that information until I was around 15 weeks of pregnant. Since I was only using it to wash my face and not soaking in it, it was probably OK. However, I found it is best just to avoid it in the first place, so I no longer use it. This is just one example of the many things I've had to look up since becoming pregnant. Often times, I had to read an entire article or sift through other information to get my question answered. That's why I decided to start this website. I thought it would be a great help to have a list of questionable things to choose from, each with a simple explanation about their safety, that expectant mothers could refer to without having to read an entire article to get the information they need. Please remember, however, that I am not a physician and you should always consult your doctor with regard to what is and what isn't safe for your baby during pregnancy. This is simply a compilation of what I have discovered along the way. Also keep in mind that on some of the items there is conflicting advice. Once again you should consult your doctor and always use your best judgment. For example, some research suggests you should not have any caffeine at all while other research says it's OK to have some in moderation. I'm a big coffee drinker, so what I chose to do was drink less than usual and use 1/2 caffeinated instead of full strength. That was just what I chose to do given the information I found. I truly hope you find this website easy to use, informative, and helpful as you take the journey through this exciting time!
